A Thought, Part One

This was noted in my sketchbook with some small drawings and is undated. It was written in response to a conversation overheard between two men, one of which owns and operates my favorite coffee shop and is usually full of bravado and confidence. They were discussing medical problems and in that instance appeared very fragile and vulnerable.

we are all in

some state of poverty

in our society, where

the economy defines

us more than a national

identity, it seems that

only financial poverty

is recognized

but in reality

there are so many

ways that one finds

themselves deficient

for reasons beyond

their control

and all that can

be done is to recognize

where and how we

are rich
